Competencies of the Imaging Group

Document Imaging: The imaging Group designs and implements document imaging solutions, including workflows and archival applications, As part of solution implementation, the group develops user interfaces, user exits, reports, web connections etc. And has undertaken start-to-finish project execution right from requirement definition and detail design, to implementation and acceptance testing. The solutions have been based on Unisys Infolmage document imaging software, Imageware, Wang OPEN/Image Windows, PC DOCS/ Fulcrum, and others

ID Solutions: EPISuite from G&A Imaging, Canada, is the most feature-packed electronic photo identification and card access system available under MS Windows. Tata Infotech has a strategic alliance with G&A to implement ID card solutions based on EPISuite. The software can be used for applications such as driver's license, digital passports, national ID card, and credit cards.

A National ID (NID) center has been set up to provide support for BioWare, the personal identification product from Unisys, as well as to help implement NID projects for Unisys worldwide.

Smart and card solutions based on ORGA, Gemplus, and Aladdin systems for banks, loyalty schemes, driver's license, health cards, security cards (access control), and so on. Smart card applications for loyalty schemes are also being developed for hotels and airlines. The activities of this group also involve multi-application card, and card operating systems.

Forms Processing: The Imaging Group has been working on various forms processing solutions such as TELEform, FormWare, and the Eyes and Hands family of products. As a part of this experience, the group has worked with over 50 ICR engines including CGK.

Implementing various applications involving capture of huge volumes of data, processing, and correction of data, Tata Infotech has set up an Offshore Development Center for the customization and implementation of FormWare. The group has 15 consultants dedicated to providing customization and distribution services for the Eyes and Hands family of products. They have implemented a number of projects on Eyes and Hands for Forms both in India and overseas.

The expertise and experience acquired in this area include forms processing solutions for mail order companies, chain of supermarkets, census agencies, among others.

Document Engineering: To address the challenges and opportunities presented by this quickly evolving technology area, Tata Infotech has established a focused Documents Engineering Group (DEG) that works with web technology like HTML, SGML, and XML, and has implemented numerous web-based solutions.

The Document Engineering Group has skills in text formatting and text manipulation, document analysis and DTD design, identifying appropriate conversion/authoring techniques, transforming/searching through SGML/XML documents repositories, delivering SGML/XML documents, and developing applications and tools for internet/intranets. The Documents Engineering Group also provides customization and distribution services for BladeRunner, which is an end-to-end content management solution for e-business applications.

Payment Systems: Numerous payment systems projects based on the Unisys DP range of products including DP35/DP500 and DP1800 have been undertaken. Applications include automatic check clearing, image-enabled inward and outward clearing, lockbox applications and image item processing. The group has undertaking customization and support of TMS Image (a product from J&B Software Inc), which is an image item processor used for check, or stub processing.

Knowledge Management: Knowledge Management (KM) refers to intelligent Information Retrieval, or the ability to bring the right information to the right time. It is a strategy for sharing and using both explicit and tacit knowledge. The goal of KM is to simultaneously utilize information and explicit knowledge, while leveraging information in people's head (tacit knowledge) through a combination of technology management practices. The Tata Infotech Imaging Group provides product integration, customization, development, and consulting servicing for the KM product from PC DOCS/Fulcrum known as DOCS Fulcrum.
