KMDA-MSS

Information Technology (IT) is an effective catalyst for economic activity, in efficient governance and in developing human resource. To improve local governance a need to implement a GIS based Municipal Support System was conceived. The KMDA-MSS is a client server based application. The application was developed for Bhadreshwar Municipality, Kolkata. The base work for creating digitised maps and databases was followed by conceptualizing a Municipal Support System application for a complete automated GIS environment. This will enable easy update of data and realistic analysis of the resources at the local level. The solution will provide the users of the Bhadreshwar Municipality with a tool to query & analyze information and help them to take prompt decisions using the system. The users of the system will be facilitated with options like viewing of the maps on the screen and retrieving the information required for decision-making through automated query modules. The system would generate reports based on the data available as and when required by the user. Earlier the various departments of Bhadreshwar Municipality were not able to plan their activities efficiently as they did not have an integrated Geographical Information system (GIS). This Application provides the different departments namely Town Planning, Health, Estate, Administration and Taxation of the Bhadreshwar Municipality a tool to query & analyze spatial information in order to take better decisions. The system also has provisions to generate various reports.
