Central
Ground Water Board (CGWB)
The
Hydrological Information System (HIS), for Central Ground
Water Board (CGWB), is to facilitate Water Balance and Water
Resource assessment. One of the main objectives of HIS is
to improve facilities for measurement, collection, analysis,
transfer and dissemination of hydrological and hydro metrological
data at Central and State levels in India. One of the most
important aspects in planning of a water resources development
project is to assess the viability of water and its time distribution
data. Water availability is the lifeline of any water resource
system. The application consists of creating a database, updating
it frequently as and when new data is available and retrieving
the data from the database when desired after carrying out
validation checks on the database. In hydrological analysis,
Geographic Information system (GIS) and Remote Sensing have
important places, since both deal with spatial and non-spatial
data.
