Tata Infotech acquires 40% Stake in SITEL India Private

Tata Infotech (TIL) has acquired 40% of the equity capital
of Sitel India Private Limited (SIPL) at a cost of Rs10.65
crores. SIPL is engaged in the IT-enabled services, offering
Contact/Call Centre services and technical support services
to its customers, using voice, E-mail, and web support for
English speaking customers in the USA, UK and other countries.
SIPL,
operates from Mumbai, with 1100 employees and was formed as
a 50:50 Joint venture with Systems Integrated Telemarketing
Netherlands BV, a subsidiary of SITEL Corporation, USA.(SITEL)
and Tata International Ltd, the international business arm
of the Tata Group. In the new structure SITEL will continue
holding 50% of the equity, Tata Infotech will hold
40% with the balance 10% will be held by Tata International
Ltd.
"This
investment is in line with our strategy to enter the fast
growing IT enabled services segment. This venture will benefit
by leveraging Sitel's operating practices & standards,
existing customer base and Tata Infotech's technological and
offshore capabilities .It will also help Tata Infotech in
expanding its offerings in the IT enabled services to its
clients" said Mr F. K. Kavarana, Chairman Tata Infotech.
Sitel
Corporation USA is one of the largest contact/customer relationship
management service companies in the world, with an annual
revenue of US$ 700 million in 2001. The Company provides services
in 25 languages through about 84 centres located in 20 countries
and employees more than 25,000 employees.
