CONTENT
MANAGEMENT
Customer: A software provider of
international trade information
Technology: Content Management
The Customer
Located near Washington, D.C., our customer offers
global trade information solutions to government and commercial
firms. A recognized authority on international trade, our customer
develops software and publishes content that streamlines international
trade processes, reduces risks in cross-border trading, and keeps
clients up-to-date with the transitive regulatory environment.
The
Challenge
Our customer publishes on its website, among other
material, the contents of the "Code of Federal Regulations"
(CFR) and the "Federal Register" (FR). While the former
contains law-related information, the latter, a daily publication
brought out by the government, has documents related to law changes.
With the purpose of serving its clientele more effectively the customer
desired an enhanced website that would deliver better content through
enhanced functionality
The Solution
Tata Infotech developed FLUX (Federal Laws Using
XML), a solution that converted the CFR and FR from their proprietary
ASCII format to an XML format. The XML solution provided for value-additions
such as inter-linking pages and querying possibilities. Oracle 8i
is being used for the storage of such voluminous data with highly
inter-linked text between the CFR and FR documents. A web interface
to the application allows users to access information with ease.
The Benefits
- Minimum human intervention for managing
such a large volume of frequently changing information.
- Value-based queries for specific extraction
of data.
- Possibility of push channels in the future.
- Easy navigation.
