Customer: A Leading Long Distance Airline
Technology: Aircraft Maintenance System Integration and Interface
The Customer:
The customer is one of the worlds leading long distance airlines,
presently operating a fleet of over 180 aircraft across a network
spanning exceeding 140 destinations in 30 plus countries. It is
also one of the strongest brands within the home country as well
as internationally.
The Challenge:
The airline uses Unisys hardware and software for its engineering
and maintenance application and also for freight management system.
The hardware used for engineering and maintenance system includes
2200/900 systems.
Following the merger of another major carrier with
the airline, a unified engineering and maintenance system was confirmed
as the corporate solution of choice, comprising applications based
on Unisys 2200-series and IBM using DB2 database.
The challenge was to unify and develop interfaces
between the Aircraft Maintenance System, Supply, Job Costing and
Human Resource applications, which were running on different Systems.
The Solution:
The applications were enhanced and support provided for the applications
as per the Airlines’ operational requirements. The software
was written in ASCII COBOL using DMS1100 and works in a TIP environment
on the Unisys 2200-series.

Customer: A Major North Atlantic Air Carrier
Technology: Implementation of Freight Management
System
The Customer:
The customer is a major North Atlantic carrier, operating locally
as well as to prominent destinations across the Atlantic and beyond.
They provide scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers
and cargo to more than 150 destinations, vacation packages to over
90 destinations, as well as maintenance, ground handling and training
services to other airlines.
The customer uses Unisys 2200/423 for its production
environment and Unisys 2200/413 for test and backup purposes.
The Challenge:
The airline acquired a modern cargo system, replacing a 20-year
old system. This cargo system was a leading system in the field
of Freight Management Systems bringing together virtually every
aspect of airlines Cargo Operations. A unique feature of the site
was the use of SNA network of IBM 3270 terminals linked to the Unisys
2200 host.
The modules provided include Cargo Tracking, Rating
and Booking facilities, automatic rating of airway bills, a comprehensive
accounting package, Revenue enhancement and MIS tools. It was required
to provide added functionality, bilingual and enhanced user interface,
comprehensive testing, and pre and post installation support.
The Solution:
Analysts from Tata Infotech Limited were involved
in Installation and Implementation of the system as well as development
and support of local application features.
