CATi uses XML (eXtensible Markup Language),the lingua franca for structured information, for maintaining a repository of frequently used clauses found in various types of contracts. Using the repository of clauses, templates can be created for several types of contracts. Specific contracts can then be drawn up using the most appropriate clauses in the template.

The system uses the latest technology for dynamically changing content like client names,effective dates, and amounts within a particular clause, or a set of clauses.
