Parks
Victoria, Australia
EIS
follows a modular approach and is designed to meet the conservation
and management objectives of Parks Victoria. It consists of
the five application modules: General Mapping, Environmental
Values, Environmental Management Programs and Spatial Server
Access.
Following
are the highlights of EIS:
- Consistently
record threatened flora, threatened fauna and management
program sightings within the Parks Victoria managed land.
- Perform
spatial and attribute data queries on flora, fauna and management
program actions.
- Describe
and analyze a park(or area within a park) within a local,
regional or state wide context.
- Provide
the ability to extract and present environmental data in
the form of report, spreadsheet, graph, map or a combination
of these.
- Upload
the changes made by clients located at remote park locations
to the server and download the data from the server to the
clients.
EIS
has a client-server architecture. The system consists of a
Windows NT server connected to Windows 95 clients via WAN
and dial up modem. Visual Basic 5.0 and MapX were used as
the development tools. Oracle and MapInfo's Spatialware were
used as the back end.
