Indian
Oil awards Tata Infotech with order for networking refineries
across the country.
25/06/2002 |
Tata
Infotech will connect seven of IOCL's refineries and three
offices with the installation a Wide Area Network (WAN) structure
linking the now separate entities. The refineries are situated
in Mathura in UP, Barauni in Bihar, Vadodara in Gujarat, Panipat
in Haryana, Guwahati in Assam, Haldia in West Bengal and Digboi
in Assam. In addition IOCL's offices in Noida, New Delhi and
Gurgoan will be connected. Tata Infotech, India's leading
Systems Integrator will design and install the network structure.
Tata Infotech has alliances with the worlds best networking
products and equipment companies such as CISCO, Lucent, and
Nortel to provide clients with robust network infrastructures.
With
the network structure in place, there will be a seamless flow
of data and information exchange within the refineries and
offices of IOCL and this is expected to increase levels of
efficiency within the refineries.
The
network structure will also form the backbone of IOCL's future
plans for installing internet telephony and running of its
SAP software on-line.
This
project is in addition to Tata Infotech's list of IT projects
already implemented for IOCL; a WAN project, where it networked
50 of IOCL's marketing locations, and a campus-wide local
area network (LAN) project at IOCL's Panipat refinery.
