Tata Infotech, CMC
in synergy talks
Business Standard - July 1, 2002 |
Tata Infotech Education, the education services
division of Tata Infotech is in talks with CMC, the other IT training
company in the Tata fold to explore the possibility of a strategic
alliance
Rahul Thapan, head, Tata Infotech Education,
said "We have been talking to CMC to try and find out areas
where we can work in a complementary manner, since there could
be areas where they have a presence and we do not and vice versa."
However, he maintained that the talks were in
a very preliminary stage and as yet no concrete business plan
had been drawn up. According to company sources, the two companies
have identified certain areas where joint operations are being
planned and this could largely be in the e-learning space targetted
at the corporate sector. Tata Infotech has already set its eyes
on the e-learning space and has drawn up plans which would enable
it to target a larger audience in this business. The company has
planned to set up 50 overseas centres this financial year.
