Tata Infotech assessed
SEI CMM Level 4
The Observer of Business and Politics - July 27, 2000 |
Mumbai: Tata Infotech has been
assessed at SEI CMM Level 4 for its Bangalore and Pune software
development centers this month.
The development centre at NEPZ (Noida Export Processing Zone)
located at Noida near Delhi, achieved the same certification in
March 2000.
Describing it as a landmark in the company’s endeavour towards
business excellence, a spokesman said that this assessment placed
Tata Infotech in the select band of high maturity organizations
worldwide that have been assessed at level 4 and 5.
The two centres fulfilled the requirements of the key process
areas of CMM level 2, 3 and 4 and were assessed at level 4. The
SEI CMM is a five-level model-designed by the Software Engineering
Institute at the Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA -
to evaluate and improve the capability and maturity of a software
organization. Each level represents a higher maturity of the organisation’s
capability.
The assessment was carried out by a team from KPMG. This assessment
included software subcontract management, an area not generally
addressed by many Indian software organisations.
