Tata Infotech arm
to redesign courses Telegraph
- May 25, 2002 |
The education services division of the Rs 525-crore
Tata Infotech plans to focus on developing new modules and courses
in the areas of telecom, banking, insurance and IT services during
the current financial year. "We have identified four areas
that we expect will drive growth in the IT industry this year,"
says Rahul Thapan, head of the education services division.
"We have also redesigned" our existing
courses to cater to the requirements of the industry". Speaking
on the courses being developed for the IT services industry, Thapan
says, "We will focus not only on the human aspect of the
call centre business, but also on the back-end technical areas.
The courses will include training in the fields of networking,
data storage, web application development and data administration".
Based on the research conducted by IMRB, Tata
Infotech Education has adopted what it calls a 360-degree learning
approach for the IT industry. Elaborating on its approach towards
training, Thapan said, "Tata Infotech is trying to provide
a comprehensive learning platform for students through a three-way
partnership between the institution, academics and companies for
the emerging sectors."
"Our learning approach includes perspectives
from industry, career, student, product (the course), delivery
(or the methods of training) and academic. It is driven by the
requirements of industry and based on the feedback, the institute
creates products, services and solutions for students and corporate
customers," adds Thapan.
