Tata Info targets
corporate training overseas
Financial Express - March 21, 2002 |
Kolkata: The education services
division of Tata Infotech will venture into the US and European
corporate training market in the next financial year (2002-2003).
According to Mr Rahul Thapan, head of the education
services division of Tata Infotech, the division will start offering
corporate training packages to the existing and new foreign customers
of its systems integration business. This will be a part of the
total implementation package of Tata Infotech. "Our system
integration division is working in more than 100 foreign companies
to implement various IT projects. The workforce of these companies
always need training in areas of new technology and skill upgradation.
We will offer long-term structured training courses to these foreign
companies through our education division," said Mr Thapan.
The initial plan of the company is to move jointly
with the system integration division and to offer a training module
for the workforce along with the IT project implementation. The
mode of delivery will be both instructor-led and computer-based
training. "In the past we had trained personnel of US and
Europe-based companies. But those training modules, in association
with our system integration division, were for a specific time
period. Now we want to do it throughout the year, catering to
the needs of the corporates," added Mr Thapan.
According to industry estimates, last year the
education division of Tata Infotech had earned a revenue of around
Rs 58 crore out of the total group revenue of Rs 524 crore.
Mr Thapan said that the education service business
division of Tata Infotech was likely to have a growth rate of
around 50 per cent during the current fiscal mainly owing to the
surge in the corporate training market.
