Tata Infotech has appointed Charles Antony as chief operating officer with immediate effect. Former managing director Nirmal Jain was handling the responsibility until he stepped down in July last year. The company’s day-to-day operations were being overseen by chairman Farrokh Kavarana over the last seven months. Mr. Antony joins Tata Infotech from the global telecom solutions major Motorola. He has been associated with Motorola for 23 years and was senior director of its engineering operations prior to his assignment at Tata Infotech. Over the last six months, Mr. Antony has been a consultant to Tata Infotech, with a special focus on the telecom industry, said a company release. Mr. Jain, meanwhile, has moved on and joined Mumbai-based software services company Silverline Technologies as vice-chairman and chief operating officer.
