The Project The Technology.
Being the first of its kind in India, the project had no precedents. Using total indigenous technology, Tata Infotech was soon chugging away, delivering solutions that reduced cost, improved the infrastructure and increased efficiency.

When Konkan Railway, the largest ever engineering project by the Indian Government, needed to computerize their operations, they selected Tata Infotech.

At its peak, they had over a hundred specialized people on the job. Round the clock!

The job demanded the scheduling and signaling of 20 trains, on a single track. Over 760 km, 59 stations, 1500 rivers, 2000 bridges and 92 tunnels! plus, looking after ticketing, freight, accounting, inventory, maintenance and employee benefits. All from a central control room.

Tata Infotech's signature capture and verification product, SignBANK won the CSI National Award for the best shrink-wrapped product for 1998.

The Technology The Project

Anticipating all their IT needs, Tata Infotech set up a team of dedicated experts, to design and develop network solutions for Tata International. North Central Data Cooperative

"Tata Infotech has helped us

overcome the biggest challenge

we have faced in the past 30 years."

The Technology The Project

Tata Infotech has successfully completed several modules and subprograms within HORIZON, above and beyond the client's expectations. As NCDC realized, Tata Infotech was not just a business associate, but a partner.

The North Central Data Cooperative (NCDC) provides data processing and product support services to the rural telephone and electric cooperatives all over the US. In an increasingly competitive industry, NCDC needed a winning edge that would keep them ahead. So, in 1991 they decided to develop HORIZON, a billing and accounting system. To create the best possible package, NCDC needed a  suitable partner. Their obvious choice -- Tata Infotech.

In partnership with NCDC employees, our people designed, developed and deployed over 30 software products. Our software engineers made it their business to master NCDC's system, thereby getting a unique insight into the requirements of the project. According to NCDC, their  revenue has tripled, and their customers have more than doubled, since the implementation of the project.

Land Services Department of Environment. & Natural Resources

The Technology The Project
The project was executed in three parts over a period of 14 months from March 1997 to May 1998. Each part included a Packaging phase, followed by a Conversion phase and then an Acceptance phase. A key feature of the solution was the conversion of the A-Series online applications to a Tuxedo based OLTP environment on UNIX retaining the same "look and feel" of the user interface. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), South Australia, manages in an integrated way, the protection, conservation, enhancement and utilization of South Australia's natural resources.
This application was critical to the functioning of the Land Services division of DENR whose core business was the provision of land registration, titling and valuation services.

Tata Infotech Limited (TIL) was contracted by Unisys Australia Limited to provide the software related services for the conversion of the LOTS application of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), South Australia.
